Amereco Biofuels Corporation
Amereco Biofuels is our biodiesel production partner. They are Arizona's oldest and most reputable biodiesel producer. Amereco was founded in 2006 to commercialize environmentally friendly, renewable biofuels and related products. Amereco is committed to protecting the environment, while at the same time making a significant impact over time in Arizona's air quality and in the reduction in dependence on foreign oil.
Biodiesel can be produced from a number of food sources, but Amereco and AZ Green Dining Network are committed to producing biodiesel only by recycling waste vegetable oil (WVO) that would otherwise be disposed of in our landfills or used for other non-productive purposes. Our alliance and dedication to this philosophy minimizes the impact on our landfills and does not take away from our food supply.
How do Amereco and AZ Green Dining Network work together to produce biodiesel? The process is really quite simple and works as follows:
Restaurants use vegetable oil in their cooking process, thus creating impure waste vegetable oil. This is called WVO for short, and this is what we collect from you when we service your account each month.
AZ Green Dining Network travels to each of its Member restaurants and collects their WVO.
AZ Green Dining Network brings the oil back to our Operations Center for dewatering, filtering and cleaning.
AZ Green Dining Network delivers the WVO to Amereco's production facility, located in West Phoenix in Arlington, AZ.
Amereco converts the WVO into biodiesel fuel and green cleaning products using a chemical process know as transesterification. This is a big word, but basically means "oil in, fuel out."
Once the biodiesel is manufactured and completes all necessary ASTM fuel quality specifications tests in the laboratory, it is then loaded onto a tanker truck and delivered to Amereco's fuel distribution partners.
The finished biodiesel is then sold to distributor partners and end users. Reduced emissions, cleaner air! Every 1,000,000 gallons of biodiesel produced keeps 12,000 tons of pollution -- or 1,200 dump trucks of pollution -- out of Arizona's air when compared to standard diesel fuel. What a difference this can make in our state over time!

What is Biodiesel?
|
 |
|
Biodiesel is the name of a clean burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. Biodiesel contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend. It can be used in diesel engines with little or no modifications.
Biodiesel is registered as a fuel and fuel additive with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and meets all clean diesel standards established by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Neat (100 percent) biodiesel has been designated as an alternative fuel by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the US Department of Transportation.
Biodiesel is the first and only alternative fuel to have a complete evaluation of emission results and potential health effects submitted to the EPA. Biodiesel reduces regulated emissions by between 45 and 67%, and non-regulated emissions such as sulfur by up to 100%.

Biodiesel Benefits
|
 |
|
Biodiesel has many benefits, some of which are outlined below:
-
Refined from RECYCLED fats and oils.
-
Delivers similar or better engine performance than conventional diesel.
-
Non hazardous, with a flash (igniting) point of 300º F vs. 125º F for #2 petroleum diesel.
-
Much cleaner burning than conventional diesel.
-
As biodegradable as sugar.
-
Less toxic than table salt.
-
Helps with clean air, clean water and clean soil.
-
Creates a domestic petroleum product that keeps our energy dollars at home instead of sending them to foreign countries.
-
No need for special fueling equipment.
-
No need for special safety equipment.
-
Virtual elimination of the generation of carcinogenic Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) compared to conventional diesel.
